MRLA President & CEO Justin Winslow on Hundreds of Restaurant Workers & Operators Gathering at the Capitol to Save the Tip Credit
"Today, several hundred restaurant workers and operators are once again descending on Michigan's Capitol, hoping that perhaps this time their voices will be heard. For months they have explained, advocated and pleaded their case to their elected officials that they did not ask for Michigan to eliminate the tip credit, and they need them to fix it before their jobs are lost and restaurants close unnecessarily. They spoke to legislators at dozens of roundtable meetings across the state, at their local coffee hours and through nearly 20,000 letters. It is time for leadership and action. It is time for the legislature and Governor Whitmer to unite around the voices of actual workers in their time of need. It is time to save the tip credit to save 1,000 restaurants and 60,000 jobs."
