MRLA Countdown: 23 Days Until Michigan's Restaurant Industry Faces a Devastating Tip Credit Elimination
“As we mark 23 days until the implementation deadline, the recent experience in Chicago serves as a stark warning - they lost 6,000 industry jobs immediately after starting to phase out their tip credit,” said Justin Winslow, President & CEO of the MRLA. “Other states or cities that have removed the tip credit experience tremendous job loss and are already considering overturning the new law. Michigan faces an even larger potential job loss of if the Senate fails to act on HB 4001. The House has provided the solution - now the Senate must move with urgency to protect Michigan jobs.”
