MRLA Countdown: 29 Days Until Michigan's Restaurant Industry Faces a Devastating Tip Credit Elimination
Statement in Response to Passage of House Bill 4001
Statement in Response to Passage of House Bill 4001
“Today, we thank the bipartisan coalition within the Michigan House of Representatives for prioritizing the real-world concerns of thousands of Michigan servers and small operators over the repeatedly failed ideology of a bankrupt out-of-state interest group,” said Justin Winslow, President & CEO of the Michigan Restaurant & Lodging Association. “The restaurant industry is already experiencing closures, dramatic fee increases and lost jobs as operators begin to adapt to a Michigan Supreme Court ruling that takes effect in 29 days. We are asking the Senate to recognize the considerable smoke that surrounds this industry and to take quick action to prevent this avoidable fire. The clock is ticking, and Michigan's restaurant owners and servers can't afford to wait."
