Michigan Restaurant & Lodging Association Statement Regarding
Michigan Supreme Court Not Issuing Advisory Opinion on Adopt and Amend
Michigan Supreme Court Not Issuing Advisory Opinion on Adopt and Amend
“Today’s ruling by the Michigan Supreme Court would seem to bolster our long-held position that the Michigan legislature acted within its constitutional authority when it amended the minimum wage and paid leave laws in 2018,” said Justin Winslow, President and CEO of the Michigan Restaurant & Lodging Association. “If an actual constitutional crisis existed as has been erroneously claimed, the court had the opportunity after careful consideration and oral argument to declare as much. They didn’t. No ruling is a win for economic stability, opportunity and future job growth in the hospitality industry. “
