POSITION: Restaurant Membership Development Manager
DEPARTMENT: Membership
REPORTS TO: Senior Director, Operations & Membership
BASIC FUNCTION: Responsible for recruitment and retention of restaurant members for the Association in a defined geographic area.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Sell Association membership to restaurant non-members to meet or exceed monthly quota
Work to retain current members and meet or exceed monthly quota
Support overall sales activities

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Work will be performed indoors in a generally comfortable office environment and some travel to potential and current members. Employees must possess the following physical requirements:

BASIC FUNCTION: Responsible for recruitment and retention of restaurant members for the Association in a defined geographic area.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Sell Association membership to restaurant non-members to meet or exceed monthly quota
- Identify prospects for membership within the geographic area using internal databases, internet searches and publicly available information
- Contact prospective members, via correspondence, telephone and in person to explain the benefits of membership
- Gather and present marketing and promotional materials on membership
- Answer inquiries from prospective members, provides additional information and works to close the sale of membership
- Process applications for membership, including original invoice and payment and delivery of new membership materials
- Update membership database with information on prospects contacted
Work to retain current members and meet or exceed monthly quota
- Maintain communication, via correspondence, telephone and in person, with current members within geographic territory
- Promote the use of Association products and services to current members
- Respond to member service contacts for current members within geographic territory
Support overall sales activities
- Attend industry trade shows; support Association sales efforts
- Attend and engage at MRLA events

PROFESSIONAL/TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Basic reading and writing skills, exceptional verbal, and written communications skills
- Ability to successfully sell memberships in a not-for-profit environment
- Understanding of the dynamics of the hospitality market, including understanding of industry operations sufficient to explain to potential members the benefits of membership in the Association
- Thorough knowledge of the benefits of membership in the Association, as well as the products and services available to Association members
- Ability to use the database software used by the Association
- Computer user skills including the ability to prepare correspondence and reports in Microsoft Office Suite

- Ability to prioritize work and manage time; able to work independently and responsibly with only limited direction

- Ability to effectively encourage potential customers to purchase membership and the products/services provided by the Association
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Work will be performed indoors in a generally comfortable office environment and some travel to potential and current members. Employees must possess the following physical requirements:
- Able to communicate with staff on a telephone, and hear and speak clearly to members and others face to face
- Has vision sufficient to read printed documents, computer screens, forms, and other communications
- Able to sit or stand for long periods of time
- Able to reach above shoulder level to work, as well as bend, squat and sit, stand, stoop, crouch, reach, kneel, twist/turn, finger and feel
- Must have ability to travel locally and out-of-town for extended periods, using private or commercial transportation and staying in public accommodations
- Must have the physical ability to attend meetings, conventions, and other events, which may be held in large convention facilities with various accessibility, and maneuver through such facilities to perform a broad variety of duties
