as Vice President of Government Affairs
LANSING, MICH. – The Michigan Restaurant & Lodging Association (MRLA) is pleased to announce that John McNamara has joined the organization as Vice President of Government Affairs. In his position, McNamara is responsible for all government relations and lobbying activities while representing the voice of the hospitality industry in Michigan.
“John joins the MRLA with tremendous insight about the legislature and industry advocacy,” said Justin Winslow, President & CEO of the MRLA. “His experience within the Michigan Legislature and more recently, managing statewide government relations at McLaren, will be invaluable in advancing the interests of the hospitality industry and its nearly 600,000 employees in Michigan.”
Prior to joining the MRLA, McNamara served as the Manager of State Government Relations for McLaren Health Care. While serving in this role, McNamara represented the organization and industry at the state level, monitoring and influencing legislation that would impact operations and patient care, and leveraged expertise to enlist the right sponsors and cut through bureaucratic red tape to move the interests of the organization forward. Preceding his time at McLaren Health Care, McNamara spent ten years holding various positions throughout the Michigan legislature.
McNamara holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and Government from Michigan State University and is currently completing an MBA at Michigan State University’s Broad College of Business. He resides in East Lansing.
