MICHIGAN RESTAURANT & LODGING ASSOCIATION TO DISTRIBUTE FREE NOROVIRUS TOOLS FOR FOOD SERVICE ESTABLISHMENTS

LANSING, Mich - The Michigan Restaurant & Lodging Association (MRLA), in partnership with the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, today announced it has made available Say NO to Norovirus campaign tools and cleanup kits for up to 1,000 foodservice establishments. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Norovirus is highly contagious, one of the leading causes of foodborne illness, and gets an average of 20 million people sick every year. It can be transferred during food preparation, yet is easily avoidable with the appropriate training and resources.
“The safety of guests is always the top priority for every restaurant and hotel in Michigan and we as an organization have always worked to provide top-tier food safety training and resources to this industry,” said MRLA President & CEO, Justin Winslow. “We are proud to be able to partner with MDARD to continue the education and provide free assets for our industry.”
Industry professionals who would like to request a FREE Say NO to Norovirus clean up kit can visit michiganfoodsafety.com. Visitors also will find a variety of resources and information about Norovirus, its prevention, and disinfection. Supplies are limited and available on a first come, first served basis. - A comprehensive instruction sheet
- Personal Protective Equipment (gloves, facemask, hairnet, and shoe covers)
- Absorbent powder
- Scraper
- Disinfectant spray
- Absorbent towel
- Trash bag for discarding all pieces at use
