LANSING, MICH. – The Michigan Restaurant & Lodging Association (MRLA) and MRLA Educational Foundation (MRLAEF) today announced that Sedona Taphouse will support The Michigan Hospitality Industry Employee Relief Fund throughout the month of July as the featured non-profit for the restaurant’s ‘Dine Out for Charity’ Program.
The ‘Dine Out for Charity’ Program is featured every Monday at each Sedona Taphouse location, where dine-in patrons can purchase a Black Angus Flat Iron Steak or Grilled Norwegian Salmon (in select locations) at half off. A minimum of $1 is donated for every steak or salmon sold to support the restaurant’s featured charity each month. To date, Dine Out for Charity has donated over a million dollars to featured charities.
“Community and charity is a cornerstone of everything we do, and the ability to give back to our communities is paramount to our mission as a hospitality company,” said Sedona Taphouse CEO and Founder, Dennis Barbaro. “We love being able to recognize the charitable initiatives of our restaurants, and more importantly, bring awareness to incredible causes like these that are so important in our industry.”
The Michigan Hospitality Industry Employee Relief Fund provides grants directly to struggling hospitality workers. Grants cover basic needs like groceries and rent, while people recover from illness, injury and natural disaster, as well as financial support in times of crisis. The MRLAEF, a 501(c)(3), administers the fund and provides support to employees that are going through unexpected challenges.
“We would like to thank Sedona Taphouse and its ‘Dine Out for Charity’ program for keeping Michigan’s beleaguered hospitality workers top-of-mind,” said MRLA President & CEO Justin Winslow. “Providing for those who serve others while in their own time of need is the very essence of hospitality.”
The Relief Fund was created in April of 2020, as a direct result of COVID-19 and the devastating impact it had on hospitality workers in Michigan. Throughout state shutdowns, more than $3.1 million was raised and distributed to those without gainful employment. The Relief Fund has been expanded to provide support to industry employees who are facing crises and hardships.
