What is your business’ niche/speciality?
We are a historic, boutique hotel in the heart of downtown Marquette, MI. We have 66 overnight rooms, some of which are themed/named for historic figures that have stayed here throughout time, including Amelia Earhart, Bishop Baraga, Peter White, and George Shiras III.
The Landmark Inn has a robust food and beverage program featuring two restaurants and a cocktail lounge. Our Northland Pub is an English-style pub where patrons may enjoy a relaxed atmosphere, traditional pub food, and a vast selection of craft beer, including town favorites. The Landmark Inn Dining Room (formerly the Piedmont) is currently being re-concepted to open as “The Parlour.” When completed, the Parlour will feature wood-fired brick oven Pizza by “Smelted,” a local food truck company owned by Matt Lucas, who we’ve partnered with. The Parlour will also have a more casual feel, focusing on games, pizza, beer, and craft cocktails. Those who frequent the Landmark Inn will no doubt tell you about the wonderful lounge on the 6th floor, the Northstar Lounge. The Northstar is a craft-cocktail lounge that overlooks the Marquette Harbor and historic downtown district.
Beyond our two amazing restaurants and 6th floor lounge, we have a thriving events/catering department that services brides from all over the mid-west. The Landmark Inn is a well-known wedding venue in the region, and specializes in smaller, more intimate weddings of 120 guests or less. Our staff provides top-quality service and goes above and beyond for our groups. The backdrop of a historic building outfitted with modern amenities really draws attention; it’s very appealing to couples looking for a exceptionally unique getaway.
Why is the MRLA important to you and your business?
The MRLA is the unified voice for our industry. The great work being done to collect information from industry leaders all over Michigan will be vital in a fast and aggressive recovery in the wake of COVID-19. The MRLA collects input from businesses all over Michigan, and then presents that information in a format that can be understood by a broader audience. Its’s especially important that our legislators in Lansing understand the nuances of our industry and how the decisions they make affect us. They provide data on the macro and micro level that businesses can use to navigate a rapidly evolving landscape.
The Landmark Inn Highlights
1. The Landmark Inn has always been a clean and hospitable. With recent developments in our industry concerning enhanced sanitation and public safety protocols, we have proven our ability to adapt and flourish.
2. We remain a premiere destination in Historic Downtown Marquette for overnight lodging. This property has been servicing travelers to the Iron Range since 1930. If you’re looking for a spot to nestle down and enjoy Marquette, you won’t do better than the Landmark Inn.
3. Our Hotel prides itself on building a great employee culture where everyone is respected and allowed to grow. We believe this approach to managing is reflected in our hospitality.
4. We relish the opportunity to be a great community partner. We see ourselves as stewards of our beautiful Marquette region, and aim to serve it proudly by introducing all of our guests to its bountiful offerings, such as hiking, biking, golfing, fishing, dining, and drinking great beer, along with countless other fun activities.
5. Passion forward! The Landmark Inn’s guiding principle is to be “passion forward”. This broader idea may be witnessed in our extensive investment in community service programs that bring us joy and allow us to give something back. One example of this that we’re extremely proud of is our work every holiday season with the “Angel Tree Program” that pairs children in need with willing sponsors. We have participated in this program for 4 years and having this tree in our lobby is a reminder of our greater responsibility to give back.
