MI Vacc to Normal Challenge
Governor Whitmer hosted a press conference on Thursday, April 29 announcing her new MI Vacc to Normal Challenge that ties vaccination rates to a reintegration plan the relaxed COVID-19 mandates. The ‘MI Vacc to Normal’ plan will use four vaccination-based milestones, using data for Michiganders 16 years or older who’ve received their first dose to guide future steps required to get back to normal. Michigan is currently 48.8% vaccinated. It is noted that MDHHS may delay implementation in a MERC region if new cases remain greater than 250 daily/million as a seven-day average at the time of implementation.
Summary of plan:
55% of Michiganders (4,453,304 residents), plus two weeks

AHLAF’s program will ensure hotel employees are continuously developing a better understanding of ways to identify traffickers and potential victims in hotels. The No Room for Trafficking program seeks to bring the hotel industry together to further build upon our unified efforts and end human trafficking through four key goals:
- Elevate: Raise issue awareness by fostering an ongoing and up-to-date understanding of human trafficking indicators through increased education, resources and training for all hotel employees.
- Assess: Conduct ongoing reviews and updates of protocols, procedures and technologies to confirm training effectiveness and employee vigilance.
- Educate: Develop strategic intervention and disruption strategies that equip hotel employees with innovative tools to work alongside partners and law enforcement to identify and report suspected trafficking situations.
- Support: Further our partnerships with leading national human trafficking prevention and law enforcement organizations to establish industry standards and support human trafficking survivors.
- Action Plan: Recommended steps for hotels to take to begin combatting the issue, including training staff, displaying indicator signage, establishing a companywide policy, and coordinating with law enforcement.
- Resources: Human trafficking statistics and partner information.
Social Zones for Summer
Social Zones have grown increasingly popular over the course of the last year. When indoor dining was halted, restaurant operators had to get creative with outdoor seating, thus creating a demand for these social zones. These zones are created for people to maintain a safe distance and have someplace to eat takeout or have a drink that is not within the property lines of a business. These are public areas such as sidewalks, streets or parks that allow the public to consume alcohol in a public setting. Now that patio season is back in full swing, the demand for dining outside has increased. Does your community have an approved social district?
